Plaid to the Bone

befunky_artwork.jpg

Calling all Canadiannas… our favourite pattern is back for good once again this season. Hate to break it to the boys, but the classic Canuck staple is not only for hunting and fishing. Plaid is worn with just about anything, but seems to be custom made to channel our inner bad-girl and pairs all too well with pleather accents for both day and night time looks.

This is a perfect look for a chilly fall morning turning into a perfect sunny day. Throw on a flannel when cold, and tie around your waist for a trendy but functional look for the day. Plaid pairs well with your graphic tees and basic jeans for an updated, ‘running errands’ look.

So you’re out for a dinner date night, but want to be casual, comfortable, but put together? This Vince blouse must have been made with pleather pants in mind, and ties in well due to it’s pleather collar. Pair with a statement necklace, or some bad-ass booties.

These are the most recent addition to the Who Cares? Wear line up, and we’re crazy about them! Talk about a throw back to your childhood days… these are temporary tattoos for adults!

This plaid-gingham shirt is perfect for a casual outfit, but also can easily be worn for a night out when paired with a mini skirt. Now I introduce you to the: Cool Girl Tuck. Tuck one corner of the shirt in to give yourself a visible waist while still looking just-rolled-out-of-the-house-effortlessly-chic.

Now you’re out for a night on the town with your girls with one mission in mind: dancing. We all swear by Hudson jeans, especially with this cute two-toned affect, with black on the front and plaid on the back. Pair with your favourite Jocelyn Kennedy long necklaces, as well as a sassy Chaser graphic tank, and you’re ready to shake it!

Still Falling for Summer Fashions

Every year we’re faced with a weird, in-between season. Fall. For Edmontonians, fall ranges from one week to three months thanks to our reliable weather. So us fashionable women are faced with a problem: how do we bring our summer fashions into fall?

Summer-y Tops

Bring your silky, bright coloured, pretty tops into fall by pairing down the girlies with some tougher touches: leather jacket, waxed jeans, white-bottomed sneakers.

Shortie Dresses

Give your thigh skimming dresses into fall by pairing it with a shoe that doesn’t need a beach or sun. These booties are sleek and slim enough to pair with a dress, but aren’t too summer so that you’re looking out of season.

Boyfriend Jeans

A smash hit this summer, the boyfriend jean is a comfortable option to keep in your wardrobe. Pair with lighter materials so that you’re not overwhelmed with bagginess… no one wants to channel their inner soccer-mom look! Give yourself that extra spring in your step by matching with a simple pump to tie the whole look together.

Ripped Denim Do’s

Image

Ripped denim is so in right now. Everywhere you look, everyone’s sporting holey jeans, acid wash jackets, and frayed denim vests. Besides from being your most versatile items, ripped denim just oozes cool. So tap into your inner badass/coolgirl vibes and wear yours today!

This combines two of the biggest denim trends this spring/summer: boyfriend jeans and rips, rips and more rips. Boyfriend jeans are one of those things you have to try and will immediately fall in love with. They’re sweat-pant-comfortable, but on trend and acceptable dressed up or dressed down. Pair with a blazer and wedges to make a cleaner polished look.

Denim vests are so versatile, and give another denim option besides a jean jacket in your arsenal. Easy to throw over a long t-shirt or sweater to make a layered affect, such as what Kennedy is wearing here. Paired with a comfortable but cute pair of Sam Edelman ballet flats.

Denim shorts can easily replace your jeans for nights out, but are better balanced with a flowy top – not paired with a tight top (too much tight-fitting clothing can quickly become a bad thing!). This bright pink provides enough pop on it’s own, so pair down with a neutral wedge and neutral jewels.

These boyfriend jeans are similar in fit and comfort as the pair posted above… however they’re in that nice light spring colour everyone is craving this season. Paired down with a girly, graphic Lauren Moshi tee, and white-bottom sneakers.

Neutral Territory

Image

Spring is known for being the season to unveil your brights, which is true, but we’re also all about embracing a palette of pale greys, baby pinks, and soft beige. These shades are appropriate all spring and summer long, so tear yourself away from the safe black and white combos and embrace your neutrals this season!

Everyone owns denim shorts. Transform yours into a dressier outfit complete with a crop jacket and tear-drop necklace. This pale pink jacket is also convenient to throw on with pretty well anything to keep warm on those cooler summer nights.

This Theory dress can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. The cinched waist is also a flattering detail on every body type!

An animal print dress is a must-have in every woman’s arsenal, but change it up from cheetah print to snake skin! Bailey dresses feel like pyjamas but are sure to be an eye catching piece for any occasion.

These pieces are a nice alternative to bright and bold cuts and colours which we have seen a lot of this spring. These dainty creations in light colours go with most anything!

How-to: Spring Maxis

Image

Amen for maxi dresses. They’re comfortable, dressy or casual, and allow you to prolong not-shaving your legs for another day or two. This spring we’re embracing the maxi-trend, as they make a return this spring in beach-inspired patterns and colours. Whether you’re enjoying a beach vacation, are attending a wedding, or are hitting up the grocery store, we’re sure the maxi dress will be a reliable piece to throw on!

This beautiful tie-dyed number begs for sand and waves. Dress this maxi up with layered gold accessories to give a boho-vibe. Maxis pair perfectly with wedges to give an elongated look, while also being very easy and comfortable to walk in. These Michael Kors wedges are a summer staple for our store every year – we swear by them!

For a more casual maxi dress look, opt for a simpler colour or pattern, such as this cotton dress, paired with a cropped denim jacket. Wood accessories are a staple for summer, and are a unique option to thrown on for day-to-day, rather than your usual gold or silver accessories.

Image

This water-colour-inspired dress is ideal for spring and summer weddings. The beauty of maxi dresses is that due to their length, they can be matched with several footwear choices (as pictured here, metallic wedges, neutral colours, or flats).

Timeless Stripes

Image

Our favourite timeless pattern? Yeah, you guessed it… shop stripes with Who Cares? Wear. This always classic cool-girl pattern begs for a denim crop jacket and colourful sneakers. The sailor vibe is back again this spring, and is here to stay!
